What Does It Mean to be a Yellow Ribbon University?

by

At Everglades University, we are proud of our military and appreciate the service they provide our nation. Because of that, we have focused many of our efforts on helping veterans and their families obtain a degree. We allow our students a flexible class schedule, small class sizes, VA Benefits, assistance with VA benefits, and educational planning to make the process of obtaining a degree much easier.

In addition, we also consider military training for college credit and are a proud participant of the Yellow Ribbon Program.

The Yellow Ribbon Program helps veterans pay for their schooling, often at little to no cost to them. The program is a provision of the Post-9/11 GI Bill and allows eligible schools to enter into the program and waive a portion of the tuition cost up to the current maximum. This program has greatly helped many veterans pay for their schooling and receive a degree without the burden of paying a hefty price for out-of-pocket tuition costs.

To receive the Yellow Ribbon benefit, students must:

  • Be a veteran of the United States Military and have served for at least 36 months after September of 2001.
  • Have been honorably discharged
  • Follow all criteria listed in the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

However much the school decides to cover for tuition, the VA will match that price, giving the student an even bigger opportunity to attend school even if they can not afford it on their own.
