Everglades University was proud to attend the recent 74th Annual Construction Association of South Florida (CASF) Member Recognition Dinner, where two EU Construction students were awarded CASF scholarships.  President Mollis presented the awards and thanked the CASF organization for their continued support of the Everglades University BS/Construction Management degree program and its students. 

CASF recognized two Everglades University students who were well deserving of the CASF scholarship:  Shannon Freire and Andy Gutierrez.  This amazing event allowed the scholarship recipients to build valuable networking opportunities with highly respected organizations and industry professionals for potential opportunities for career development and advancement!

The EU students commented on the value of these scholarships.  Ms. Freire stated, “I have gained valuable hands-on experience and foundational knowledge in project planning, execution, and management.  This experience has not only solidified my passion for construction but has also prepared me to excel in my future endeavors, I am committed to earning my degree in construction management, which will equip me with the advanced knowledge and skills necessary to further my career.  This opportunity brings me one step closer to realizing that dream, and I am profoundly appreciative of this opportunity.”

Mr. Gutierrez stated, “Every day, I learn something new, whether it’s about project planning, team coordination, or problem-solving on the job site. This role has increased my passion for the construction industry and my commitment to advancing my skills and knowledge.  I aspire to lead projects that not only meet but exceed client expectations through innovation, sustainability, and quality workmanship.”

Everglades University’s President, Kristi Mollis commented, “We thank CASF for allowing us to participate in this wonderful event and for their continued support of our construction students.  We are very proud of Shannon and Andy for being honored tonight and selected by CASF to represent the Everglades University as the 2024 CASF/EU Scholarship Endowment recipients.  We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Construction Association of South Florida to train further and develop the future construction leaders of S.
